Platitudes and Promises

 January 06, 2016

For all of its carefully craft PR precision, Dr. Minnis New Year’s Address was a mere recounting of the country’s challenges and did little in the way of inspiring Bahamians or laying out an agenda for the official opposition. In the nearly ten minutes that Dr. Minnis spoke he offered nothing but empty platitudes. In fact Dr. Minnis’ remarks seemed eerily similar to the countless empty speeches given by Prime Minister Perry Christie over the course of this term in office.

As our nation embraces the start of a new year, Bahamians had hoped to hear a message of hope, one which would galvanize the masses and inspire us all to be better, and do better. Instead, all we got was a reminder of our many challenges and the failures of both the government and opposition in the management of this country.

The Democratic National Alliance challenges the leadership of the both the government and the opposition to do more than just talk; offer more than platitudes and promises. We challenge them to lead by example, to lead exemplary lives and finally live up to the confidence placed in them by the PEOPLE! Until then, WE THE PEOPLE, are unmoved.

Democratic National Alliance - Bahamas

The mission of The Democratic National Alliance (DNA) is to ensure that the needs and aspirations of Bahamian people - to be owners with the government in the political, cultural, and economic development of the nation - are met. The DNA is devoted to upholding, protecting, and deepening the democratic rule of law in society by promoting openness and accountability in governmental affairs, social justice and equality, and the right of the people to self-governance and authority in determining their own destiny.
