Meet Floyd Armbrister - DNA Candidate for change in Exuma

Biography

Born in Steventon, Exuma, Floyd Q. Armbrister, 48, is the son of Marjorie Nixon and George A. Armbrister. Floyd received all of his early education on the island of Exuma, where he graduated from the Exuma Senior High School.

In 1980, Floyd began working at Scotia Bank and worked his way up to the ranks of Branch Manager. Following his time at Scotia Bank, he worked at the Commonwealth Neurological Institute. Now a professional realtor, Floyd is also an appraiser and a broker, and his time in the Financial Service and Real Estate industries spans more than 29 years.

Floyd is a founding member and current President of the Exuma Chamber of Commerce and the former Chairman of the Exuma Licensing Authority. He is also a founding member of the Bahamas Mortgage Brokers Association, as well as a member of the Bahamas Real Estate Association. A licensed broker, Floyd has been awarded the designation of BRI by The Bahamas Real Estate Institute.

Elected to Local Government in 2008 as the West Township Committee Member, Floyd later went on to serves as Deputy Chairman, and is a past President, Commissioner, and Treasurer for the Exuma Softball Association; past President and Treasurer for the Exuma Basketball Association; Chairman of the Steventon Commonage Committee; and past member of the Family Island Regatta Committee.

Floyd is married to Yvonne Armbrister (nee Ferguson), and is the father of five children, three daughters and two sons. He is also a proud grandfather.
